Cosmos Business Systems undertakes the implementation of the new supercomputing system of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA-AEGIS)

Cosmos Business Systems — a leading integrator of Information Technology, Telecommunications, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) solutions — announces the award of the project for the acquisition of the NOA-AEGIS supercomputing system of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), with a total budget of €3.4 million, funded by the Greece 2.0 / RRF program.

The project involves the supply, installation, and operation of a state-of-the-art supercomputing cluster based on NVIDIA GPU technology, which will be utilized for Astrophysics, Climate Research, and Artificial Intelligence applications.

As the official representative of NVIDIA in Greece and Cyprus, Cosmos has implemented more than 10 HPC and AI Data Center projects across Southeastern Europe, including ARIS, the largest supercomputer in Greece (operated by GRNET), and the HPC system of The Cyprus Institute, which serves as the country’s central scientific computing hub.

“NOA-AEGIS is a landmark project for Greek science. It is not just a supercomputer, but a knowledge ecosystem that brings together data, research, and artificial intelligence. Cosmos Business Systems leverages its expertise in AI and HPC to transform it into a driver of national innovation,”
said Mr. Stavros Intakidis, Chief HPC Engineer at Cosmos Business Systems.

At the same time, Cosmos is closely monitoring new European investments in supercomputing and artificial intelligence under the EUROHPC program, which promotes the development of national and regional HPC infrastructures. The company is actively pursuing participation in upcoming projects, contributing to the creation of a unified European ecosystem of computational power and innovation.

Through its subsidiary Novelcosmos AI, Cosmos is also developing Greek Large Language Models (LLMs), running on the company’s new AI–HPC Data Center in Thessaloniki.
