At the celebratory event marking the beginning of a new era for the Hellenic Cadastre, titled “From a Decades-Long Pending Issue to a New Era,” the new digital format of one of the country’s most significant administrative transformation projects was unveiled.
Cosmos Business Systems, a long-standing partner of the Hellenic Cadastre since 2006, had the honor of attending this significant moment for public administration and the country’s digital transformation, represented by Mr. Dimitris Dafnis, Chairman and CEO, and Mr. George Kokkalis, the Group’s General Manager of Projects.
Cosmos Business Systems has contributed to the successful operation of the Land Registry through the implementation of large-scale projects, such as the digitization of the Land Registry Offices in Patras, Corfu, and Paxos; the construction and operation of data centers; the support of critical cybersecurity infrastructure; as well as a multitude of software, network, and technical support projects over the past 20 years of their collaboration. Today’s transition marks a milestone and a step of historic significance toward the new digital era.
The event clearly highlighted the scale of the reform that has taken place in recent years. As presented, the Hellenic Cadastre has now completed 99% of the cadastral mapping of the country, while the country is definitively leaving behind the old, outdated, and fragmented model of land registries and transitioning to a modern, unified, and land-centric system.
Particular emphasis was placed on the results of the extensive digitization of archives—an extremely large-scale project—as well as on the Greek Land Registry’s transition to the government cloud, which safeguards the functionality, availability, and performance of the systems. The use of artificial intelligence in critical processes was also highlighted, which significantly accelerates the processing of transactions and enhances transparency, oversight, and service quality.
In their remarks, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou; the Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou; the Deputy Minister responsible for the Land Registry, Mr. Christos Dermentzopoulos; the President of the Hellenic Cadastre, Mr. Athanasios Lipas, and the Director General, Ms. Olympia Markellou, highlighted the significant progress that has been made, as well as the importance of the collective effort of the administration, the staff, employees, and partners who supported the project’s progress.
The key highlights presented clearly reflect the new image of the Hellenic Cadastre:
Cosmos Business Systems remains committed to supporting major digital transformation projects for the Greek government, contributing its expertise, consistency, and forward-looking strategy to the creation of a more modern, efficient, and transparent government.
