The Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR) is a state research organization operating under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. HCMR consists of three research institutes: the Institute of Marine Biology, the Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture, the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters and the Institute of Oceanography.

UNIVERSITY OF PIRAEUS RESEARCH CENTER

The University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC), within the framework of the institutional framework that governs its operation, has set as its vision to become a modern and internationally renowned research center that will contribute to the emergence and recognition of the University of Piraeus as one of the leading in Europe.

This specific project is implemented by the Data Science Lab. of the University of Piraeus (Data Science Lab. – DataStories). The lab is active in research in a number of fields of Data Science, such as big data management, statistics and data analytics, machine learning, knowledge mining from databases, texts and sounds, traffic data exploration and data privacy.

The laboratory has a significant experience in European research projects, most recently H2020-ICT Track&Know (Big Data for Mobility Tracking Knowledge Extraction in Urban Areas, 2018-20), H2020-MSCA-RISE MASTER (Multiple Aspects Trajectory Management and Analysis, 2018-22), H2020-ICT DATACRON (Big Data Analytics for Time Critical Mobility Forecasting, 2016-18).

In its current composition, the laboratory includes the research activities of 9 faculty members (4 different Departments) of the University of Piraeus and supports several experienced and young researchers.
