The Cosmos Business Systems event, held in collaboration with Dell Technologies and focusing on Greece’s Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure for 2030, took place with great success as part of the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair (TIF) at the Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki.
The event brought together representatives from the national government, local government, the academic and research communities, the technology market, and the manufacturing sector, highlighting the need for Greece to transition from individual digital applications to integrated, secure, scalable, and sustainable Artificial Intelligence infrastructures.
The discussion was moderated by journalist Maria Samolada, while the fireside chat with the Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou, drew particular interest; the discussion covered the role of the state, national digital infrastructure, the prospects for artificial intelligence, and the challenges of the coming decade.
At the same time, in a brief address, the Deputy Minister of Labor, Mr. Konstantinos Karagounis, highlighted the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the labor market and the consequences of its rapid expansion.
The first thematic session, titled “National AI Strategy: From the Digital State to the AI-Enabled State,” featured Nikolaos Tzollas, Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance of the Region of Central Macedonia; Dimitris Yantsis, General Director of Information Society Projects, Aleksander Preradovic, General Manager & Chairman of Dell Technologies, and Alexandros Kourtis, Public Sector Sales Director at Cosmos Business Systems. The discussion focused on the transition from a digital government to one that actively leverages Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of citizens, the administration, and the economy.

The second session, titled “The Technological Foundation of Artificial Intelligence: Compute, Data Centers, Cloud & Cybersecurity,” highlighted the critical technological prerequisites of the new era. The panel featured Dimitris Katsianis, Vice President of EDYTE; George Seleliadis, Operations Executive at FHL I. KYRIAKIDIS; Christos Georgiou, Director of Information Technologies at BSTDB Bank; and Kostas Angelakopoulos, Advisory Systems Engineer at Dell Technologies. The discussion focused on computing power, data centers, the cloud, cybersecurity, and the need for resilient infrastructure capable of effectively supporting AI workloads in both the public and private sectors.
The third thematic session, titled “Universities, Research, and the Productive Economy: The Greek AI Ecosystem of 2030,” featured Dr. Ioannis Antoniadis, Vice Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Dr. Konstantinos Diamantaras, Vice Rector of the International University; Dr. Gregory Tsoumakas, Professor of Computer Science specializing in AI at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; and Dimitris Dafnis, President & CEO of Cosmos Business Systems. The discussion highlighted the importance of connecting universities, research institutions, businesses, and technology partners to create a strong Greek artificial intelligence ecosystem, as well as the need for the academic community and the private sector to work in unison, and for the cultivation of new, talented scientists who will support this new era.
The event highlighted the dynamism of Cosmos Business Systems as a Greek and Cypriot technology group playing a key role in shaping the infrastructure of the new era.
