The high-level architecture of  IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Online Services for Microsoft 365  is that the gateway itself runs in an  Azure environment  hosted by IBM. When someone logs into that environment and configures the service, the gateway will connect to their Microsoft 365 account and provide backup and recovery services.

IBM  Spectrum Protect Plus Online Services for Microsoft 365  is available in two different licenses:

• With the first option, the user  does not need to have their own infrastructure and storage space , but can obtain the storage space provided by IBM, which is AZURE BLOB storage.
• With the second option  “BRING YOUR OWN STORAGE” (BYOS),  the user can have their own storage space and use AZURE or S3 storage to store backup data.
