Expansion of the New HPC of The Cyprus Institute by Cosmos Business Systems

Cosmos Business Systems has undertaken the expansion of the central infrastructure relevant to the computation-based science and technology research center (CaSToRC/2021) belonging to The Cyprus Institute. It is important to note that this is the third system installed on the institute and the 11th in Greece and Cyprus.

This New system constitutes an exceptionally important addition to the current national supercomputing infrastructure (High Performance Computer, HPC) of Cyprus. Its goal is to meet the resource needs of the research and academic communities. The solution will be constituted by multiple Lenovo SR670 modular servers powered by NVIDIA A100 GPUs. Finally, the general interconnection of the system will be achieved through the new infiniland HDR200 technology, yielding more than 0,5 Pflops/s.

The new infrastructure will be supported by several management and front-end nodes. For its effective cooling, instant hydrocooling systems will be utilized. These innovative cooling systems cool electronic circuits directly eliminating the need for energy inefficient heat exchangers.

Cosmos steadily invests in HPC and data center technologies since 2014 and has the greatest number of supercomputer installations in Southeastern Europe.

Furthermore, with its NVIDIA partnership, Cosmos Business Systems extends its technical expertise on the Big Data Analysis and AI.
