Technology & Career Guidance

It is difficult to accurately predict the trends that will prevail in the labor market in the coming years. For example, the World Economic Forum (WEF), in its recent study on the jobs of the future, estimated that in the next five years approximately seven million jobs will be lost, while another two million will arise during the same period, which will concern technology-related jobs, as robotics and IT push aside traditional professions.

The number of companies using Internet of Things (IoT) technology and applications is on the rise, resulting in many young entrepreneurs choosing to invest professionally in this new trend of the era, which seems to be the near future. IT professions are becoming increasingly popular, resulting in the creation of new support programs related to the promotion and development of this sector.

With a preference rate in the ICT sector reaching 45%, we could say that the information society is recording a record of interest, resulting in the importance of this science following an increasingly greater development perspective, creating new jobs or giving the impetus for the creation of a new business idea.

Undoubtedly, therefore, we can say that new work data are being created that set new requirements for both businesses and other economic sectors. ICT, as a basic technology of a horizontal nature, is integrated into the products and processes of almost all sectors, enriching their characteristics and increasing productivity. In a constantly changing environment, Greek ICT companies will perhaps constitute the solution and the core of technological developments by using their capabilities to develop innovations.

It is no coincidence that ICT scored the highest percentage of preference in a program for submitting business ideas for young innovative entrepreneurship, leaving behind more “traditional” business ideas!
